The Same Sex (Pilgrim Press paperback, $3.45) is one of the first books from a religious publishing house to look at homosexuality from a variety of viewpoints. This anthology by Pilgrim Press, publishing arm of the United Church of Christ, deals with four main topics: sex research, sex ethics, sex laws and the homophile movement.

Of special interest is a chapter on "The Law and the Church vs. the Homosexual," written by Lewis I. Maddocks who formerly taught political science at Wooster College.

Maddocks spent a sabbatical studying the conflicts of the law and the civil liberties of the homosexual. He is a strong advocate of church-sponsored seminars which he says would help to remove the "injustices inflicted on this misunderstood minority.”
